The dried trunk cores: reeded tubes or halves, 40-80 cm long, 0.1-0.3 cm thick.
The outer side is gray-brown and shows a slight longitudinal furrow; some pieces have sideways
grooves; densely arranged, distinctly visible, brown to red-brown colored, transversed oval pores,
occasionally transverse, protruding ribs and larger circular branches are visible. The inside is pale
yellow-brown to yellowish white, flat and smooth. Hard and brittle consistency, easily breakable
with fibrous light yellow-brown to yellowish-white colored fracture.
Weak aromatic odor,
Weak, slightly astringent taste, more irritating to the tongue, and finally unpleasant in the throat.
